New Year’s Eve 2011

Christmas has come and gone so quickly. The boys are back to their lives in Chicago and Lexington :(. It was fun to have them both home at the same time. We’re hosting New Years tonight. It’s easier for us to have it here as opposed to going out. We can put Ellie in bed at a decent time and continue to enjoy our friends! It will probably be a low key evening. I wouldn’t say we’re party animals at this stage of life (were we ever?) but I am looking forward to enjoying a low key evening with the beaches. One of my New Year’s goals is to try to use this blog! A couple of months ago I decided to try to use more technology ie: I-Cal and other software am I’m soooo proud to say I’m doing it. Hopefully this will be the year I use this blog and get my I-Photos organized and printed!! Happy New Year

My Little Girl is a Senior!

McKenzie is officially a senior in high school. Where has the time gone? She has to take her exams when we get back from New York along with the SAT on saturday morning but no more SUA until August. I was doing laundry yesterday washing her uniforms thinking one more school year and she puts these away forever. She’s been wearing them for 13 years. I’m so excited for her future and the adventure and a little sad for Miss Ellie and me. We will miss our partner in crime when she goes to college. I want to remember to enjoy every moment of the next year. It should be full of memories and fun.

New York City!!

I am so excited to be headed to New York City today. We’re leaving this afternoon for five days in the big apple! We decided to take the trip for McKenzie to accept her award from the National Art and Scholastic Awards and added a few days to see the sights. I have wanted to see New York for a really long time. Dave has always said he didn’t care for it. I’ve seen different parts of the city in movies for as long as I can remember so I can’t wait to see them in person. We’ve researched and think we have a great plan to see as much as we can (keeping in mind we have Miss Ellie) so it should be fun. Ellie “packed” for herself yesterday. Her suitcase includes a pair of p.j.s for every night and a whole lot of underwear. Last but not least her swim suit- she’s praying the hotel has a pool. I can’t wait to take pictures and just enjoy the adventure.

Two Days isn’t enough

We were really blessed to have the boys come home for Easter. They both got in on Friday and Ellie was beside herself with excitement. She ran across the parking lot at the bus station and jumped into Zack’s arms. It was the sweetest sight. We had a great couple of crazy and chaotic days. Zack left around dinner time so Ellie was occupied with her cousins but Cory left later and she had a total melt down. She cried for over an hour and said it isn’t fair that Annie gets to have her brothers live with her and I only got mine for two days. It broke my heart. She said two days just isn’t enough time mom. Honestly I was so sad for her and for the fact that her life will be different than many of her friends. We had a talk about God and his perfect timing and about the fact that he knows exactly what she needs but the bottom line is she still feels sad.
